Localbar2 is an app that allows you to install files .Bar directly from the Playbook, without the need to use the program DDPB connecting the PlayBook to your PC via USB cable. In order to function, however, requires a connection via proxy with a smartphone or a PC(tinyproxy...), a PlayBook PlayBook Rooted or another.
This guide will deepen the use of localbar2 using using our BlackBerry smartphone as a proxy. Of course, the guide is also valid if we use as a proxy server on your PC or an Android smartphone, the important thing is to install a proxy software.
Let’s see how to proceed.
To install to the current playbook using proxy. You need:
- To be connected through WIFI
- To have Development Mode enabled
- A proxy server (you can use a BlackBerry smartphone with OS 5.0 or later residing on the same wifi network, or you can use any HTTPS proxy in your local network)
First we need to install the app on our BlackBerry localbarProxy. We can download it via OTA (with the Browser handheld) from here.Or download it to your PC and then proceed with the installation via Desktop Manager from here. I would still recommend the installation via OTA, easier and above all immediate.
The next step is to install, via the PC with the application DDPB localbar2.
Download the file .Bar of localbar2, available at this link:
Install DDPB with the Playbook and launch the program (with the icon of a cute giraffe):
The left column lists the files .Bar on our PlayBook.
In the central part, in the proxy address must enter the IP address of our smartphone.
To know the IP address, simply click on the application icon localbarproxy our smartphones, which necessarily must already have installed (the icon is always a nice giraffe) and you will see the IP address:
At this point it is sufficient to select the file .Bar to install and press the Install button and the installation will start:
After installation press OK
and you will find the application you just installed in the main screen of the PlayBook
If you are unable to connect with your smartphone (Proxy Server) try to restart the application or disable and reenable Development.
Now we can download the file .Bar directly from our playbook and install them without the need to have a computer.
